Podcasts and Audio - Week #10

Gosh- its almost the end of the OCLS 2.0!!! Thanks Tom, for sharing such great info and apps! Though I personally am an explorer, but most definitely, i came across some really good stuff while going through the course.

Downloading an audio book is a one job I tell you!! But yes, I did try it out :)

And now to a million dollar question, you asked Tom- How am I going to use the new MP3 player?

Well, I am a traveler- and with that that comes some accessories. Listening to music is one such hobby that most of the travelers consider a good pass time. And yes in deed, I am one of them. I travel by bus to get to work, I walk around Lake Eola during my lunch hr and I guess with this new gizmo stuff in hand, listening to some good music and some e books would come more handy. I see it the most optimizing way of doing stuff.

I can't wait to see my new MP3 Player :). Yeah!!

Blog settings

Did you notice the new look and feel of my blog? Yes it is based out on the theme of Ratatouille (2007). I really like the graphics of this new movie and while browsing thought of going through some template sites, I came across this link to download and installed this new look n feel. I did it, but I guess I was so much in hurry, that I missed reading the last dialog box that appeared on the screen and boy, I lost all those extra stuff (ex-widgets etc.) I added in my blog :(.

Should I have to do the installation of all those apps all over again? I wish I am being told "No" as an answer...or is there any quick solution??

Widgets- Week # 9

I am a music lover especially soft rock, and apparently I have got so busy with other stuff, that I hardly get to listen to my fav songs. I do have the IPod at home however I didn’t get time to even unpack it. I know its really very sad but I guess that’s how busy our lifestyle gets!! No, I am not going to whine about my situation but will start acting upon it!

DRM- Digital Rights Managent thing is a good tool to control copyright issues, but it is quite sad coz of it limitations and also that Apple won't support DRM. Coz of this very reason, many of our patrons get frustrated! Just coz the of DRM issue, they can’t listen to audio books on there iPods!

Jim shared a a lot of information on the copyright issues, and laws and it was a refresher course to go through it again.

Tom, thanks for including
Emily Wallace site :). Its good – and her music is always pleasing to ears. Now that she is taking a plunge to continue her music career full time, I wish her all the best and Emily, we sure are going to miss you here at the library.

Mmm onto widgets, well I never knew before today about widgets. This is the first time I explored these. And it is fun to see so many options available within different categories!

I added one from both
Springwidgets and Yourminis. Take a look – they are on the side bar!

Flicker and Prototype Page- Week # 8

I looked up for OCLS pictures on the Flicker and I am amazed to see the resolution and different views sizes of photographs that are available! I have been a fanatic of kodakgallery and was under the assumption that they have the best picture quality but seems Flicker beats all! There are so many options actually to choose from. To begin with I used to use, Yahoo Photos followed by Shutterfly and then finally switched to Kodak, coz it gives a provision of saving your friend's/family pictures too as they are shared. So it made sense for me to make that switch. Now after looking at Flicker, I am wondering I should make a switch to Flicker or not !! I have also heard about Picasa. I sure have tried it for organise pictures on my computer but have never tried exploring it on the web.

And... about the protopage, it's is fun and nice. It is a great way to organize your stuff under one area. I guess thats what taming technology is all about. Here is a snapshot of what it looks like:

About the course, I sure am lagging behind the rest of the group, but I am hoping to catch up soon. Wish me luck. I am not taking any help to take the lessons and no one to my knowledge is seeking guidance (not atleast in our group).

The course is so far very interesting and I like the group activities and activities each week it brings along.

Fun Week- Week #7!

I don't think I would need Trainco assistance ...and hope I never ever have to hunt for it too (Knock the wood)!! My new year resolution usually is to stay happy and spread happiness…:).

I looked Blufr site to play a bluff, but it was as I believe, wrong timing. The site was down and I would have to check the site some other time.

I did however look for other Web2.0 apps and here is what i found!

Guess-the-google/ This game displays a series of images and you have to guess the keyword google shows the result of off! Its fun and especially good for people who love googling :). A new word... i like this word googling!! hehhehe!

Also while exploring for Web 2.0 apps, I came across this link, which has whole bunch Web 2.0 applications. Take a look at these Web 2.0 apps who won the awards this May of 2007.

Library Thing - Week #6

hmm- Library Thing is quite interesting. I think that it allows so many diverse groups to converge together and provide a platform to meet, discuss and collaborate. Yes, these are the words that come out for any Web 2.0 application.

Technology wise, I think that Library Thing is quite innovative and I might grab a few ideas to incorporate it in our OCLS. What say guys? How cool it would be - if we give our patrons an oppurtinity to meet, greet, discuss and share online and that's our very own product "OCLS- library thing"?

Probably have to hunt for a better name!

Through the looking glass- ‘interesting finale’- Rating -10.00

Spoilers ahead

Lot of things got revealed in the last night episode and some new questions got raised. But to sum it up, all I can say it was a “good finale”.

We all knew Kate and Jack will survive… and it got confirmed yesterday night- but the question remains- who all survived and could make it back?

One major debate is - who is in the coffin? My verdict is that it was Locke. Cause, it would have to be someone important enough for Jack to feel bad, so depressed, and cry!

Jack's says "we shouldn't have left the island," and this so is in align with Locke's present perspective that "we shouldn't leave the island." Of course, Jack might have been the man responsible all the losties off of the island and now he realizes that it was a mistake reason for his depression. So in the end Jack realizes that Locke was, right all way along. And that’s why Kate says "why would I go to the funeral?" and disagrees with Jack that it was meant to be rescued. Jack realizes NOW what good the island did to him, made him a leader, defined a purpose, gave him hope, purpose, which after getting rescued has gone back to zero. The one man who shares his passion for the island, Locke, is now dead.

Charlie’s death came as one heroic event, in a musical way…. Singing “you all everybody”!!

And as a matter of fact, it has turned out that all the characters have turned up to be Heroes here- say Hurley, Locke, Kate, Sawyer, Bernard, Michael, Jin and many others. Oh btw- the best scene was when Hurley brings his magic bus back to the island and help everyone to kill Ryan and others.

Errrr…..but Tom got killed too 
Another fact was revealed that Noami is not connected in anyway with Penny.
There is an unexplored temple…
Why does Walt keep flashing around…
Who is Jacob and why does he need help???
Who is Kate talking about when she says- “he is waiting for me”..
Is Jack’s father alive?

One year anniversary!

Hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrray!! I complete one year at OCLS today!! Isn't that a fabulous news?

I wouldn't have remembered if Caaaaaaaaaasandrrrrrrrrrra would not have kept/tracked on her calendar. She is a neat organizer :) More so, she included that in her blog too.

Thank you Cassie!

to Eat- Week #4

I loved the video from the Shifted Librarian, though I had already seen a preview of it earlier! hmmm about my space, well I knew about it already. Talk about knew, I have worked on it also. Well apparently, I edited the page and adjusted to show our online catalog. Isn't it fun to search directly from the OCLS my space a.c.?

To Eat was actually a new link and it is a pretty decent reference to locate a restaurant.
and moreover it's just a click away !

It is a fun way to look for reviews and eating places around your area.

However, I am apprehensive to register for every website!! It would spam my inbox :(
